Hold everything!! BDF wins appeal; BDF vs Verdes to be re-played

SportsHold everything!! BDF wins appeal; BDF vs Verdes to be re-played

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. May 10, 2018– Just when it seemed like we were once again going into a weekend in suspense, and the status quo remaining with the championship game set between Belmopan Bandits SC and Verdes FC at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium on Saturday night, we received a call around 7:30 p.m. tonight from PLB General Secretary, Wilhelm Miguel, confirming information we received a few minutes earlier from a BDF source, that the FFB Appeals Board had over-ruled the PLB Disciplinary Committee decision, and found in favor of the BDF FC request to have their semifinal game 2 against Verdes be re-played. It is not clear yet if the game will be re-played in its entirety, or from the point in the match, around the 37th minute, when the Laws of the Game relating to the penalty was violated.

Our sources say that referee Reid has admitted his error, and is remorseful about the repercussions for the game.
Fair Play wins! The game wins!! Kudos to BDF FC management for maintaining discipline among their players under trying conditions, and for maintaining their battle for justice.

The challenge now for the PLB is to meet the CONCACAF draw deadline set for May 23 when a champion should be produced.

The PLB promised to release more details tomorrow.  Both BDF FC and Verdes FC are in game preparation, and may well return to the Norman Broaster on Sunday for “Take 2” of their semifinal game 2.
