SportsIn a hot match-up Kulture Yabra and ?Big Bad? Sagitun ended in a draw 1-1

In the 8thminute Tyrone Muschamp, showing superior speed, beat Sagitun?s Jose Lara and tried to put the ball toward the far corner of the goal, but was unsuccessful in doing so. Kulture Yabra had several opportunities to score but could not finish the task; however, they controlled most of the first half.

Still in the first half, Richard Jimenez got a pass from Elroy Kuylen but ?Dubu? Thomas deflected the pass and kicked off the ball conceding a corner to Sagitun. Seconds later Sagitun kicked the corner, a high ?floater?, and Sagitun?s Elroy Kuylen came from nowhere with an accurate header right at the back of the net to score the first goal of the game.

In the 39thminute, Honduran import Andino was substituted for Robert Muschamp, who was issued a yellow card earlier in the game and was suffering from stomach cramps in the first half. Throughout the first half both teams by-passed the middle of the field, instead, they attacked from the left and right flanks. At halftime, Sagitun led 1-0.

During the intermission, KREM?S sportscaster E-Jay Hill interviewed Yabra?s midfielder, Edon ?Yellowman? Rowley who stated that he was suffering from a slight headache from being hit in his forehead. He said ? we have three injured players on our team, including Tyrone Muschamp, but we have to maintain a certain area on the field in order to equalize and win this game, I am sure that we will get one in?.

In the second half, Sagitun dominated most of the time having three opportunities to score. Later Yabra missed an opportunity when Edon ? Yellowman? Rowley issued a heel pass to Jerome James that was later deflected by a defender.

Late in the second half, with Kulture on the attack, Kulture?s veteran, Norman ? Tilliman? Nunez, got a rebound off the cross bar and broke away to beat Sagitun?s goalkeeper Darren Hinds to equalize the game ten seconds before the final whistle (during injury time).

Meanwhile, at the Calcutta field in Corozal, the Calcutta Bulls defeated Print Belize Griga 3-1. In the 35thminute of the first half, Kenrick Pelayo scored to give Calcutta a one-nil lead over Griga.

Griga was only playing with 10 men after Newton Lennan was given a red card in the 16thminute of the first half but they managed to keep the game close in the half.

It was not until the 18thminute of the second half that Calcutta?s Hernan Mossiah scored, making it a 2-0 lead over Print Belize Griga. In the 37thminute of the second half, Griga?s forward Thomas Rodriguez managed to get a break-away but crashed into Clifford ?Calbo? Usher and injured himself. Thomas was taken off the field for medical attention as his foot was broken from the contact. The game then resumed after a long delay. In the 44th minute of the second half, Allan Flores penetrated the defense and scored a goal for the Griga boys. A minute later Edwardo ? Gigante? Perez replied with Calcutta?s third goal. So far in the competition, Griga is the only team with no points.

In the game between Kremandala Lake and San Pedro Sea Hawks at Ambergris Caye, it was the Hawks over Lake 2-0.

In the 24thminute of the first half, San Pedro Sea Hawks? Landy Pinelo scored the first goal off a penalty shot, followed by Julio Valle who scored in the 77thminute to win the game over Lake.

At the People?s Stadium in Orange Walk, Juventus defeated Cayo Avengers 2-1.
