BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Dec. 24, 2020– Around noon on Christmas Eve, December 24, Ingrid Vega, wife of the late David “Dido” Vega, was released from the Belize Health Care Partners’ COVID-19 Unit. A little over two weeks ago, Hon. David Vega, the former Corozal Bay PUP area representative, was laid to rest after losing his fight to the deadly coronavirus.

His wife, now released after her bout with COVID-19, had been hospitalized at the time and was unable to attend his funeral services.

She has been hospitalized since December 12, the day after her husband’s death, and was on a ventilator for just one day. She received therapy in the last few days of her hospitalization before she was discharged and her condition has progressed well, although she was still in need of supplementary oxygen at the time of her release.

The medical staff of the hospital, outfitted in full PPE’s, escorted Vega to her family members. Ingrid Vega returns home to continue her recovery from the coronavirus, having passed the deadliest stages. Her recovery brings some much-needed relief to a family already coping with the passing of their patriarch.

Ingrid Vega returns home to her two daughters and other family members.
