The firearm of a security company is now on the street in the hands of criminals after the security guard posted at the Inspiration Center was ambushed and robbed of his gun by two gunmen at about 1:15 yesterday morning at the Inspiration Center building, located between Mile 2 and 3 on the George Price Highway.
Police searched for the two thieves, but the effort was fruitless.
Celerone Similhomme, 27, a Haitian security guard at AAA Security Firm, Belize City, told police that two men jumped over the fence, entered the compound, and came at him from behind. One of them put a gun to the right side of his head, he said. The second thief then robbed him not only of the gun, but of his personal cell phone a, Samsung smart phone with calling number 661-3228, valued at $85, and a handheld radio.
The company’s firearm, a .38 Special revolver, has serial numbers DCK 6639, and was loaded with five .38 Special live rounds.
After robbing him, the armed thief then beat Similhomme in the head with the butt of the pistol, and then the two assailants escaped.
