Coming down to the wire now! Hello to the beautiful cricket family at large! Under the auspices of the Belize National Cricket Association, the Barry Bowen/Harrison Parks cricket finals are moving fast forward with a very beautiful match played at Biscayne on Sunday. Well, beautiful for the winner; not the loser. Let’s get straight into the meat.
(NOTE: This was a “must win” for Tropical Disturbance because St. Paul’s Strikers had won game one in their best-of-three match series in the Level TWO finals at St. Paul’s Bank on Monday, July 31.)
Strikers won the toss and, because stats from previous games showed that they had a better average chasing score, so they allowed Tropical Disturbance to bat first. You all do the tally from here. At the fall of 6 wickets, Disturbance had a mere 24 runs; that was not showing good signs for the batting side. It shows that the chance Strikers took was a good one. But at the fall of the 7th wicket things took a big change. That 7th wicket fell for 52, and all fell for 115. Herbert Banner played a very important role there, as he scored 56. Wilhelm Cassasola took 4 Disturbance wickets.
After a hefty lunch break, it’s now time to see what the Strikers had up. At the outbreak it seems things were again on the Strikers’ side, as when half of the wickets fell they had scored 67. But things just fell apart after that, as when the last wicket fell the team was short of 16 runs.
That’s a burning loss for the Strikers. I kept saying that any team that won the toss, that’s a step closer to you winning that game. You don’t take chances in finals.
Congratulations on your winning, Tropical Disturbance! You capitalized on their grave mistake. A very orchestrated game played! Herbert Banner took 3 wickets and was named Man of that Match. For the Strikers, Jerry Cassasola and Casey Haylock scored 20 each.
With the series now tied, 1-1, game three for the Level TWO championship, St. Paul’s Strikers vs Tropical Disturbance will be in ‘Landing this Sunday, August 13.
That’s it, folks! Till next weekend, RESPECT ONE ANOTHER, AND YOU WILL BE RESPECTED. BYE BYE!
