BELIZE CITY, Mon. Nov. 29, 2021 — Police have identified a recent homicide victim who was mistakenly named as Alexander Murillo from Dangriga, but was subsequently referred to as John Doe after the error became known. Police, after realizing the victim had been misidentified, sent out a photo with a tattoo that was seen on the body in an effort to get members of the public to properly identify the dead man.

It was confirmed last Friday that the victim is 35-year-old Belize City resident, Lizaro Ochoa, who was killed by a gunman whilst walking on M&M Street in the Lake Independence area. Police have not yet informed the public of any possible motive for this seemingly random killing or any leads they might have into the shooting.
