John Tillett, 53, of San Ignacio, Cayo, who had been reported missing last Friday, December 13, was found floating in the river in the area of Santa Familia, Cayo District, at about 5:30 yesterday evening, Wednesday.
According to police, who went to the scene where the body was found, Tillett had all his personal belongings with him, including his cell phone. No signs of violence were observed on the body, which awaits a post-mortem exam.
Tillett’s family said that he left home 7:00 Friday morning to go to work at the Ministry of Works in Belmopan, and failed to return. Tillett was not seen again by the family after he left for work that morning, but they last heard from him at about 8:00 that Friday evening.
It was not until yesterday evening that Tillett’s body was spotted, floating in the river, by a villager in Santa Familia. The police were quickly alerted.
Needless to say, the sudden and tragic loss has devastated Tillett’s family.
