BELIZE CITY, Sat. Feb. 1, 2020– Khris Gentle, 26, a fisherman of Cemetery Lane, on Tuesday, January 28, went to Austin Bogue Caye to fish with a friend of his. That friend returned to the city on Wednesday and told Gentle’s family that he had left Gentle fishing at the caye. When he returned on Thursday, January 30, however, Gentle was nowhere to be found.
Police and the Coast Guard were called and the search began to find Gentle.
Today, a search group consisting of police and Coast Guard officers found Gentle floating face down, decomposing, in the sea near Bannister Caye. A post-mortem exam of his body will be carried out at a medical facility on the Boom-Hattieville Road. Police said that no signs of violence were noted on the body.
Police and Gentle’s family await the results of the autopsy to certify, the cause of Gentle’s death.
