San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Fri. Sept. 3, 2021– On Friday, September 3, a joint police operation led to the confiscation of over a kilogram of cocaine that was found in the possession of a naturalized Belizean at El Secreto Resort in San Pedro.

At about 6:30 that Friday evening, a joint police unit, acting upon information they received, searched a building occupied by Carlos Rafael Zalazar Monroy, 54, at El Secreto Beach and found 1,034 grams of suspected cocaine inside a metal box in the kitchen area.

The parcel of suspected cocaine was confiscated, and Monroy was charged for drug possession. At the time of Monroy’s indictment, the Police Department had still not determined the origin of the suspected cocaine. The authorities continue to investigate.
