Bird, who was hospitalized for a short period until Monday, said he did not make a police report until yesterday, Wednesday in Belize City.

Flores visited the newspaper last night and told us that he is in shock and disbelief about the attack and beating he sustained.

Erwin Flores, a key part of the Kremandala FC team, was allegedly attacked by a group of three men early Monday morning, December 19, as he rode his bicycle home in the Benguche area of Dangriga.

The incident occurred sometime after midnight in the area of the town?s main bridge near the riverside of downtown Dangriga.

It was an attack from a blind curve, said Flores, so he did not get to see his attackers.

The only thing he remembers clearly is riding across the main bridge, when he noticed that three men were riding some distance behind him. He thought nothing of their presence and continued riding, said Flores.

Suddenly he felt a sharp pain to the head, and that?s when he said he was hit with some object.

The hit to the head knocked Flores unconscious. When he regained consciousness he was lying in a hospital bed.

That?s all he can recall about his near death ordeal, said Flores.

This ambitious and energetic footballer is still in shock trying to figure out who would want to hurt him in the way they did.

Flores, who was born and raised in Dangriga, is well known and popular in his hometown.

The day before the attack, on Sunday, December 18, the Kremandala team had traveled to Placencia, where they won a 1-0 game.

The team?s next game, the opening of the playoffs, is scheduled for Saturday evening, December 24, Christmas Eve, in Dangriga.
