SportsLong-serving basketball referee Robert “Boxer” Vernon passes

BELIZE CITIY, Tue. Aug. 2, 2016–The Belize Association of Basketball Officials (BABO) has received word of the death yesterday of one of our long-serving referees.  Mr. Robert “Boxer” Vernon served Belizean basketball for some quarter century until ill health intervened.  “Boxer” refereed at tournaments throughout the country, and was especially generous in contributing his time and services to the high school and other youth tournaments.  His absence will be keenly felt.  BABO and the Belize District Association of Basketball Officials express our sincere condolences to his family.

(Ed. Note: Our condolences also from the sports desk.)
