BELIZE CITY, Sat. June 26, 2020– A man has been detained pending charges of discharging his firearm in his apartment, and his licensed 9mm pistol has been deposited as an exhibit.
At about 12:30 this morning, the man fired 9 shots at a squirrel that “spooked” him in his apartment, located at Mile 3 on the Philip Goldson Highway.
Police said that they were called to the apartment by neighbors who heard shots being fired. On their arrival, the man told them that he was “spooked” by the animal and fired at it. Nine expended shells were found in the apartment.
It is not known if the squirrel was hit, but no one in the area was injured.
