BELIZE CITY. Mon. Aug. 28, 2023

The life of a well-known Belize City man was cut short as a result of a hit-and-run road traffic accident that took place on Friday night, August 25, near A&R on the Philip Goldson Highway.

According to initial reports, between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m., 52-year-old, Rodcliffe Codd, also known as “Coddie” or “Rich Kid,” was riding a bicycle on the highway en route to the Belama area when he was struck from behind by a vehicle, whose driver did not render assistance and sped away from the scene.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Codd lying on the road, and he was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for medical treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, August 27.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, OC of the Belize Police Department’s Eastern Division, told local reporters that they are seeking a vehicle that matches a certain description, based on surveillance camera footage they have viewed.

The driver of the vehicle has yet to be identified.
