BELIZE CITY, Mon. Aug. 17, 2020– A man was found dead in his apartment at about 9:30 yesterday morning. Philip Bernard Gillett, 65, an unemployed Rivero Street resident, was found lying motionless on his bed in his apartment by his cousin, Charles Lodge, 62, also of Rivero Street.
Lodge told police that not only was Gillett motionless and lying face-up when he found him, but he was also bleeding from his ear and nose, and he was already dead.
Gillett was suffering from a medical condition, said Lodge. Lodge said that he saw Gillett at about 4:30 on Saturday afternoon. He then went to check on him yesterday morning, and that was when he found him dead.
Police took Gillett’s body to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Morgue. A post-mortem exam will be carried out to determine the cause of his death.
We visited Gillett’s apartment, but were told by his neighbors that his family would not give interviews to the media and that Gillett did not like to take photographs, so they had no photos of him.
