After both recording shutout victories last week in Leg 1 of the home-and-away semifinals in the Football Federation of Belize’s (FFB) National U13 Girls Elite Championship 2022, the Mid-South and Cayo U13 Girls teams again scored victories this past weekend in Leg 2 of their semifinals against Belmopan U13 and Corozal U13, respectively.
On November 19 (Garifuna Settlement Day) in Leg 1 of the semifinals, Mid-South won at home, 2-0, over Belmopan at the M.A. Stadium in Independence; while Cayo was on the road, defeating Corozal, 3-0, at the Andres Campos Center in Corozal.
This past Saturday, November 26, both Mid-South and Cayo were victorious again.
With kickoff time at 1:30 p.m. at the Norman Broaster Stadium, home standing Cayo gained a convincing 5-2 win over visiting Corozal, for an aggregate 8-2 semifinal series victory. Shaking the net for Cayo were Marley Garcia (7’), Jahxann Waight (15’ & 51’) and Aneeke Meza (20’ & 47’); while both Corozal goals were by Danna Hall (30’ & 36’).
Starting a half hour later at 2:00 p.m. at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, it was the visiting Mid-South coming away with a 2-1 victory over Belmopan after trailing early in the game. Adali Miranda (18’) had given Belmopan the early lead, but Mid-South rebounded with two goals from Amara Coe (40’ & 46’) to secure the 2-1 win and aggregate score of 4-1 in the semifinal series.
With all roads leading to the M.A. Stadium in Independence this Saturday for the final game in the Premier League of Belize (PLB) 2022-2023 Opening Season Championship, the National U13 Girls Elite Championship will take a pause until next weekend, when the championship finals will take place at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.
