She told us, ?A boy who is about seventeen years old came to borrow a broom. My daughter went to get the broom from inside the house. She said, ?I will take the broom. I will come right back mommy.??

According to Ruvileka, her daughter was headed to the teen?s apartment, which he had just rented, not far from where they live.

We were also told that the boy returned to her house with a new broom and a packet of soap powder, but the girl did not return home after she took the broom around 6:30 p.m. yesterday evening.

?When I last saw my daughter, she was wearing a black blouse, maroon skirt and pair of sandals on her feet,? the mother recalled.

Yesterday, Ruvileka and other family members started a search of the area after they discovered that the child was missing, and subsequently made a report to police at 8:10 last night.

The young girl?s body was found almost 10 hours later; she was partially nude, just wearing the black blouse she was last seen in. She was not wearing any underwear. The rest of her clothing and her pair of sandals were found just behind the fence that bordered the very large yard of her residence.

The girl had bruises on her left cheek, a swelling on her head, and scratches on her torso.

A piece of cement block, with blood on it, was found in the vicinity where the girl?s body was found, and police suspect that it was used to hit her on her head.

Residents of the area said that maybe she had gone missing during a power outage that occurred last night. They said that the area is very dark at night.

It is not yet confirmed whether the child had been raped. A post-mortem has been scheduled for tomorrow.

Police suspect foul play. At press time, they have detained one male person for questioning.
