The daily

report issued by
the Ministry of
Health and
Wellness on
Thursday, June
9, indicated that
201 more
persons have
tested positive
for the virus,
which brings the
total number of
active COVID-
19 cases in the
country to 1,655.
While the Ministry of Health and
Wellness COVID-19 infographic
illustrates a steadily rising number of
such cases, it is also notable that in
Thursday’s report, no new death was
reported, but a total of 81 recoveries
was recorded. However, there are 9
infected persons hospitalized at the Karl
Heusner Memorial Hospital.
The Belize District leads the other
districts in the number of new infections,
with 90 new cases, followed by the Cayo

There are now 1,655 active cases in the country
District with 64 cases, Stann Creek with
24 cases, and San Pedro Town with 10.
The Toledo and Orange Walk districts
registered 5 cases, and there were three
new cases in Corozal.
According to the MOHW’s statistics,
the positivity rate stands at 18.01%.
Collected data from the MOHW for
June 6 to 8 shows that there were 705
new cases, 438 recoveries, and no
reported deaths related to COVID-19
over that three-day period.
