BELIZE CITY, Wed. Nov. 25, 2020– A woman and her one-year old baby are alive after they were caught between a gunman and his intended target.  The ordeal occurred at around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, when Kimberly Orosco, 40, arrived at her Western Avenue residence in a black Chevrolet Tahoe with her child and a man identified as Charles Young, 29.

According to reports, Orosco had hired Young to carry some items for her, but after the car was parked and they exited the vehicle in the yard, they were accosted by two men of African descent, one of whom called Young by name and told him, “I come kill you”.

That is when one of the perpetrators pulled out a firearm and fired multiple shots at Young, who, along with Orosco, took cover in the vehicle.

Young was grazed in the center of the back and suffered a superficial wound to the right upper arm, while Orosco and her child were unharmed.

The perpetrators then fled on foot on Ordonez Street, heading in the direction of Police Street.

Young took a cab to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital to get treatment for his wound.
Three expended shells and a slug were recovered at the scene.
