Mount Carmel RC boys – Bishop’s Cup 2025 National Male Football Champions

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Mar. 31, 2025

The Mount Carmel RC boys of San Ignacio, Cayo District, won the 2025 Bishop’s Cup national football championship for Roman Catholic primary schools, hosted by the Football Federation of Belize at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan on Friday, March 28.

In Game 1, the Cayo District champions, Mount Carmel RC boys won, 3-0, over the Orange Walk District champions, San Estevan RC boys, with Anton Lennan scoring the 1st and 2nd goals, and Lester Recino scored a 3rd goal.

San Pedro RC boys – Bishop’s Cup 2025 National Male Football Sub-Champions

In Game 2, the Corozal District champions, Concepcion RC boys outgunned the Toledo District champions, San Pedro Colombia RC boys, 4-3, in a penalty shootout, after a scoreless draw in regulation. Only Devon Pop, Steven Kib and Florencio Pop scored for Toledo.

Michael Richards – Most Goals (3)

In Game 3, Belize District champions, the defending 2x Bishop’s Cup winners – San Pedro RC boys won, 4-0, over the Stann Creek District champions, Richard Quinn RC boys, with Nigel Hulse scoring the 1st goal to lead 1-0 at the half. Michael Richards scored a brace after the break, and Nigel Hulse scored the 4th goal.

After the first round, the 3 winners advanced to the semifinals along with the best loser, the San Pedro Colombia boys, and in Game 4, the first semifinal, the Mt. Carmel boys’ 3-0 victory relegated the Concepcion RC boys to the consolation match for 3rd place, with goals by Levin Cecenia, Josue Giron and Rajan Sharp.

In Game 5, the other semifinal, the San Pedro boys eliminated the San Pedro Colombia boys, 3-0, with Nigel Hulse scoring the 1st goal, Michael Richards scored a 2nd goal, and Jose Chable scored the 3rd goal.

In Game 6, the consolation match for 3rd place, it was sweet revenge for the San Pedro Colombia boys of Toledo, as Azell Chi scored the winning goal to secure 3rd place and send home the Concepcion boys of Corozal.

In Game 7, the championship final, MVP Josue Angel Giron Moscoso’s brace secured the title for Mount Carmel RC over San Pedro RC.

Anthony Jimenez – Best Goalkeeper

FFB president Sergio Chuc presented team trophies, cash prizes and individual medals to the champions, sub-champions and 3rd place winners in the awards ceremony after the finals as follows: 1st Place – Mount Carmel RC – $1,000 prize; 2nd Place – San Pedro RC – $750.00 prize; 3rd Place – San Pedro Colombia RC – $500.00 prize; Best Coach – Robert Hernandez – $250.00 prize.

Individual awards:  Most Valuable Player – Josue Giron (Mount Carmel RC); Most Goals (3-way tie) – Josue Giron, Nigel Hulse, Michael Richards – 3 goals each; Best Goalkeeper – – Anthony Jimenez (Mount Carmel FC).
