Police have confirmed that Jerrie Devon Jones, 33, was shot and killed about 7:40 tonight at Mike’s Club, located on Regent Street West next to Bolton Bridge.
Initial reports are that Jones, who frequently visited the club, was upstairs at the back of the club when his assailant appeared and fired several shots at him from close range.
Jones, in an attempt to escape, ran to the verandah at the front of the building and fell over it into the street. A relative told Amandala that he was shot twice. One bullet struck him in his back and the other caught him in his leg.
Jones died, reports say, while he was being taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
The gunman, whose identity is not yet known to the police, reportedly rode away on a bicycle.
Police say they do not know the motive for the killing.
