Nazarene’s ace pitcher Jaysha Weir

The defending national champions – the Nazarene High School girls are still undefeated and leading the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) softball playoffs which continued with a consolation match for 3rd place at the Rogers Stadium in Belize City on Saturday, March 8.
Pallotti High School girls won 3rd place by a 20-10 win over the St. Catherine Academy, led by pitcher Vernamae Lodge, who struck out 3 batters. SCA’s pitcher Julissa Ayala struck out 2 batters.
The Nazarene girls entered the playoffs with 2 wins, as pitcher Jaysha Weir led them to a 16-1 win over the Wesley College girls by mercy rule in the 2nd inning last Monday, March 3.
The Edward P. Yorke girls qualified to the playoffs with one win, as pitcher Hannah Perriot led them to a 29-3 win over the Wesley College girls. The E.P. Yorke girls hammered out 29 runs off Wesley’s pitcher, Jeannie Staine.
In the playoffs last Wednesday, Jaysha Weir struck out 10 batters as she led the Nazarene girls to a 12-3 win over Pallotti by mercy rule in the 4th inning. The E.P. Yorke girls similarly dispatched the SCA girls, 24-4, by mercy rule in the playoffs last Thursday.
The E.P. Yorke girls challenge the Nazarene girls for the city championship in the finals on Saturday morning, March 15. The Nazarene girls had dominated their first encounter with E.P. Yorke, 19-4, in the regular competition on February 19.
