SportsOrange Walk Five-A-Side results for Tuesday, January 13

ORANGE WALK TOWN–As the regular season of the Orange Walk Five-A-Side tournament is coming to an end, teams are battling for playoff positions. Tonight’s Match Day #13 games were intense from the beginning, with the experienced teams keeping their composure and proving to be contenders.

1st game (Interoffice) – Centaur 2:1 BSI. Centaur came into the game looking to lock up the #3 position in the Interoffice Division; while BSI had already sealed the #2 position, but was looking to continue with their hot streak heading into the playoffs. The first goal came from Centaur’s George Rodriguez (1), but BSI’s Enrique Castillo (1) quickly tied the game. As the first half was ending, Ladrick “Mad Bull” Sheppard managed to get his shot past the BSI goalkeeper, taking the 2-1 lead into intermission. Early in second half, Centaur’s Ladrick Sheppard’s emotions got to him, earning a red card and leaving Centaur with one man less. But Centaur’s defense stepped up, and some incredible saves by goalkeeper Omar Mendez allowed them to come up with the big win.

2nd game (Open Division) – Stadium Strikers 7:3 Minions. In the Open Division, playoff spots are up for grabs. Minions was trying to earn some crucial points by taking an early two-goal lead, with goals by Hilder Gradeda (1) and Henry Audinet (1) in the first half, and Antonio “Tongo” Coral (1) in second half. Stadium Strikers kept their composure, and it paid off, as they just started to find the back of the net from all angles, with goals by Jose Carlos

Puerto (1), a laser shot from the center of the court by Zacharias Gonzalez (1), goal getter Leo Corado (2), Pablo Burges (1), and Manny Gonzalez (2), sealing the win for Stadium Strikers.
3rd game (Open Division) – Landy’s 10:1 Cutting Edge. Landy’s proved to be just too much for the young Cutting Edge team. Goals for Landy’s were by Enrique Castillo (5), Durian Cadle (2), Alberto Cassanova (2), and Daren McClafin (1); while the goal for Cutting Edge was by Jorge Garcia, Jr. (1).

Thursday, January 15, will be the last regular season day, as playoffs are scheduled to commence on Tuesday, January 20.
