ORANGE WALK TOWN, Sun. Nov. 3, 2024
The Orange Walk Football Association’s (OWFA) Amateur 1st Division tournament is entering playoffs after 5 weeks of regular competition, but the defending champions, Mi Gente FC of Guinea Grass will be without their top goleador, Aiken Aguilar, who is aching with a broken leg from their last regular season match against San Jose FC at Louisiana Government School Field on Sunday evening, November 3.
Aiken had scored 4 goals in the previous 4 games, but was sidelined for the rest of the tournament, and perhaps the next 3 months, when he shattered his right fibula after a hard contact with a San Jose defender in the 8th minute of play. The game was halted and recorded as a forfeit by San Jose, and the 3-0 win was awarded to Mi Gente.
San Jose FC’s manager, David Samuel Novelo has publicly pledged that his team will do a dollar drive to raise funds to help Aiken during his recovery, and the Mi Gente club is making similar efforts. Anyone wishing to help would be highly appreciated, and your generous contribution may be deposited to Atlantic Bank account number: 211-431-217.
AMANDALA Sports wishes Aiken Aguilar a speedy recovery, and that he may soon return to the field of play.
Upcoming quarterfinals schedule at Louisiana Field:
Sunday, November 10, starting at 11:00 a.m.
