I believe that the PUP is running the UDP organization, making them more divided and seemingly more ridiculous every day. Actually, I don’t believe that, but what other conclusion should one come to after seeing the way this clown car is being driven off the cliff, or off the Hummingbird? Saldivar, under the unrelenting gaze of the State Department and the Embassy because of his alleged corruption; Faber, the alleged serial woman abuser, wife beater, hammer wielder; Shyne, who desperately wants to be in the good graces of the United States, so much so that he sometimes makes choices that are detrimental to the interests of Belize. Objecting to the visit of the Cuban president to Belize is an example of his obsequious demeanor. Say what you will about Cuba and its political dogma, the country has been very good to Belize and Belizeans. From being one of the first supporting our right to independence, to helping us with medical doctors and training our students in many areas that have helped Belize progress as a new nation, gratis! I, like Maxine Waters, am a capitalist, although I live in one of the most socialist countries in the world, the United States of America! I see no problem in welcoming a steadfast friend—doesn’t make me a communist, just a realist.
I was watching interviews with Saldivar on the local networks, and maybe I’ve lived outside of Belize for too long, because he and his former constituents seem oblivious to the very credible accusations against him. It takes real “balls” to go on TV and even entertain thoughts of being party leader. It takes real “cojones” to try to defend or question Faber’s alleged propensity for abusing women. Not one ounce of shame or regret for his absolute abuse of power, allegedly bordering on criminal behavior, and his obvious contempt for the people of Belize! There was a time when someone who was declared persona non grata by the United States would just lower their heads and fold their tents and wither away into oblivion. Not these characters; they revel in their infamy, encouraged by those whose personal agendas overwhelm the interests of the country!
In case you haven’t noticed, I don’t mention Saldivar or Faber by their first names; they haven’t earned that respect. It is time for the Opposition to get its house in order, get rid of these selfish, self-serving, egomaniacal clowns that do not have the interests of their country at heart. It’s all about me, me and me, all mini Trumps. Shyne, if you are going to lead, lead! Get rid of these distractions, get rid of your distractions, and lead, or let someone responsible, lead. It is not easy to make fun of a political organization that was once a beacon to me; but then again, it is! Sub Umbra Floreo!
