BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Nov. 9, 2023
Trying to complete their schedule after the past weekend games were all rained out, the Premier League of Belize (PLB) pushed through all the postponed Week 12 games tonight, and with their 3-1 loss to league leading Verdes FC at the Marshalleck Stadium tonight, Police United FC has seen their playoff hopes dashed. Only 5 teams now remain in the race for the Top-4 playoff spots, and Verdes FC has already clinched its spot. In other games tonight, Altitude FC and Progresso FC drew, 1-1, at the M.A. Stadium in Independence; Wagiya SC and Bandits Sports drew, 3-3, at the Carl Ramos Stadium; and here at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City, Port Layola FC and Benque United FC drew, 3-3.
Two more weeks of regular season games remain, with one back match between Altitude FC and Bandits Sports. Verdes leads with 25 pts, Progresso and Port Layola have 21 pts each, Benque United has 19 pts, and Altitude has 16 pts but could be at 19 pts if they clip Bandits in their back match. Police United is at 13 pts, Bandits Sports at 8 pts, and Wagiya SC in the cellar with 5 pts.
