Police had arrived at the guesthouse at 11:30 a.m. and requested the keys to the room where the man and the girl were seen entering. They entered room #5 and found Carlos and a 15-year-old girl of San Felipe, Orange Walk District. Police saw Carlos and the girl clothed and sitting on the bed, but an empty condom packet was on the floor of the room. Police interrogated the girl in the presence of her mother at the police station later that day. The girl alleged that she had had sexual intercourse with Carlos around 11:15 a.m., 15 minutes before the police got there. A medical officer at the Northern Regional Hospital conducted an examination on the girl and certified that she was carnally known. Magistrate Roberto Ordonez, who conducted the arraignment, offered Carlos bail of $5,000 plus a surety of $5,000, or two sureties of $2,500. Carlos is scheduled to reappear in court on Tuesday, September 6. Sergeant Reynaldo Pook prosecuted.
