Police said that the call was transferred to the Department?s Anti-Drug Unit, since they would be the quickest ones to arrive on the scene. The policemen from the A.D.U. claim that they rushed over to the Brodies compound, armed and attired in plainclothes. A female shopper who intended to go into the store, saw the policemen when they arrived at the store and thought that they were the robbers. She called the police station, making a second report. The woman had become concerned when she saw that the security guard, a short man, was surrounded by the armed policemen, who were not in uniform. The security guard was telling the policemen that there was really no robbery in progress, and the first call, he said, must have been a prank. The woman who called the police said that she believed that the men were robbers because one of them had on a sleeveless shirt, and she noticed that they had tattoos. After the woman placed her call, a second police vehicle was dispatched to the area. The police later confirmed that there had, in fact, been no robbery at Brodies Supermarket.
