Proud of Peter Wallace’s people

FeaturesProud of Peter Wallace’s people

by Colin Hyde

Ehm, we come from good stock, not only from the great continent, and not only from the Americas. From far across the sea, the cold British Isles, seafaring adventurers and exiles, aka buccaneers, came, explored, and established themselves on this noble spot right under the noses of rigid rulers placed near here by Spanish royalty. They were the founders of what has become the greatest peaceful mix of races anywhere on earth. They were far from alone in this creation. There were Maya here, and they and every tribe that came contributed something. One tribe, our African ancestors, came here under duress. They would become the foundation stone on which the Jewel was built.

Hail Scotland, land of Peter Wallace! The BBC said the Scottish government has announced it will hold no more meetings with Israel “until ‘real progress’ had been made towards peace, on humanitarian assistance and until Israel ‘co-operates fully with its international obligations on the investigation of genocide and war crimes.’”

How shameful and shocking it is that the party that brought the children of Peter Wallace to celebrate with us on the 200th anniversary of the Centennial, are idolaters of this fraudulent, murderous, expansionist crowd that now controls Israel. The UDP must condemn in the strongest terms this genocide. It is incredible and tragic what Israel is doing to the Palestinians. Israel’s leaders are not Christian, and many Jewish leaders say they aren’t Judeans either. They are Zionists, supporters of the racist Apartheid regime in South Africa which the world condemned.

Facing 10th facts

George Price didn’t know how to handle the 10th. We were told this story about him being taken aback when some Kriol boys told a Mestizo boy at the 10th school parade that he wasn’t part of the show. It was natural that Price, very much a Mestizo boy, was offended. Price would say that the 10th was a myth, that it was divisive, caused a separation between the Mestizo of the north and the Kriol in the east.

The PUPs are like a cult when it comes to George. Nothing the great man did or stood for can be challenged. One of George’s failures was that he ignored things he wanted to go away. The people in the north were refugee stock, not powerful Spaniards, not oligarchy from Mexico or Guatemala. It takes a lot of endurance to educate people. And Price was racing pell-mell toward independence. He should have educated his people to a better understanding. He erred. He should never have called the 10th imaginary. Bah, now every year toward the end of August until September 10 we have to put up with the PUP in some kind of, excuse me, silly season, all to cover the leader’s folly on this one.

The fact is that one year before the Battle, our white ancestors, yes, our white ancestors, many of whom were cruel enslavers of our black ancestors, they and our free colored ancestors decided to defend the settlement. It is a fact that our enslaved black ancestors bought into the defense of the settlement, and without their support the settlement could not have survived the attack from the world’s empire at the time, powerful Spain.

Our ancestors from Africa, though enslaved, had feelings and creative thoughts, and they made choices about everything they had control over. People who have no empathy ask why they didn’t just rise up and overthrow and kill the white ancestors, or why they didn’t all run away when they were in the jungle cutting mahogany. They have little understanding of human nature.

All human beings aren’t leaders. In fact, the vast majority of people are followers. You think white people have never been slaves, enslaved? White people weren’t dumb; they knew how the world worked. They didn’t have to control everybody, only the leaders. Of those, some ran away. Those they couldn’t break, they kept in chains. There were those who could be bought. I can see myself, a weakling leader, getting the girl of the strong leader who wouldn’t bend so he ended up in jail, or hung, or exiled. There were perks for those of us who helped control the rest of us. That’s A-B-C. If we don’t like the fact that our enslaved ancestors joined the defense, say so. If we can’t handle the truth, we should keep our mouths shut. Stop mouthing lies. Jesus doesn’t like lies.

This September, some PUPeez will repeat their mockery, as usual. We will hear there were no reports of bloodshed, that our battle could only have been a skirmish. We know that O’Neill led a flotilla from the north. We know we got support from Jamaica. We know we won the Battle against the invaders from Spain. Heck, even Guatemala knows that.

Ah, you remember the guy in the White Book – I think it was in the White Book – who blamed the defeat on the “IRISH” O’Neill. The guy said no true Spaniard would have fled the field of battle. George Price studied in Guatemala. George Price knew the White Book. Was GCP worried about offending them, why he launched the myth story?

Aha, thinking on that, this big, bad PUP, really, they were afraid of the bigger, badder Guatemala, why they scoffed at celebrating the 10th, called it a myth and those who celebrated it colonialists; while we, NIP, celebrated because we knew we stood our ground against the bully Spain in 1798, and chased them away. Ouch, the only conclusion we can draw here is that those PUPeez are fakes. Noh watch we, watch unuself.

Garvey’s regalia

In UBAD Conversations, Assad Shoman also took a shot at Marcus’s garb, “the way he dressed.” I can see why Shoman wasn’t on page with the great man and his regalia.

If Marcus had favored the splendid garb of certain African tribes, instead of European tribes, fewer eyebrows would have been raised. He had never been to Africa. He lived in “Rome”— in Jamaica, Central America, the US, and the UK, the last one the home of splendiferous dressers.

Hmm, I have wondered about guys who love adornment. You know National Geographic. Whoa, before continuing with this piece I advise you to check your eyeballs, ensure that they are fitted in their sockets right, because if they aren’t they could pop out. You know National Geographic. You recall the tribe in Africa that descended to the river every evening after the day’s labors were done, and when they got there the girls bathed the guys, oiled and perfumed their bodies, and braided their hair and adorned it with beads and other trinkets, and flowers. Hmm, one of the threads in Marcus’s ancestry might have come from there.

No concern for precedent, and maybe no concern for that sewer too

For sure we need the full details of this 15 acres government bought at this exceedingly tidy price, but re: government escalating the price of land in the area with the purchase, I wouldn’t worry about that. There is a going rate for land. A number of things can happen to drive the price up, or down. Overnight a hot spot can go cold. There are whole towns in the US that are inhabited only by ghosts. Overnight a cold spot can get hot. We’ve heard of insider traders who got a jump on everyone else after learning that a road and bridge were in the works, about to be funded.

The price of land is mainly about going rate, but obviously bigger than that is what people are willing to pay for it. We have heard the explanation, the government’s NEED for this parcel. A land owner in that area who wants a similar price might NEED to find some person or entity with a craving similar to what our government had for that roadside.

Now, about this sewer and its smell, understandably, ugh, people who live south or west of the ponds might suffer through some uncomfortable periods. The parcels are east/northeast of the ponds. A wind from the southwest might be notn nice. Fortunately, “southwest” is the rarest wind in our country. When it comes it is like a mini hurricane, whoosh, and almost as quickly it is gone.
