BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Feb. 23, 2023

Earlier this week, it was reported that the chairman of the board of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, Dr. Andre Sosa, was being replaced by Honorary Consul General Arun Hotchandani, who is to serve as interim chair for a period of 6 months.

The announcement came with no explanations as to why Dr. Sosa was removed; however, speculations on what could have triggered such a change soon began circulating.

Initial reports suggested that the removal was the result of personal conflicts between Dr. Sosa and the Minister of Health, Hon. Kevin Bernard, while others have alleged that the apparent fallout was related to the delay in the procurement of a CT Scan machine for the hospital.

Amandala reached out to Minister Bernard for comments regarding the matter; however, his only response was “I have given my interviews on this matter already and will offer no more on that subject matter.”

However, in an interview with a local media outlet, Minister Bernard completely denied those allegations. He referred to the claims as absolute rubbish that had been made up by a media house.

In regards to the CT Scan machine, he explained that it had nothing to do with the board or even the KHMH, and that it is a matter that is being taken care of by the Ministry of Health.
