Samuel Price, 84, found beaten to death in his home

GeneralSamuel Price, 84, found beaten to death in his home
On Saturday, April 15, sometime after 9 a.m., the body of Samuel William Price, 84, brother of Leader Emeritus of the PUP, George Cadle Price, was discovered in his home, “Tarpon Cove”, at Mile 5 ½ on the Northern Highway.

Police say that his body was slouched over a tub in a bathroom of the house; he had been beaten to death.

At press time tonight, police say that they have no suspects.

Initial police investigation revealed that about 8:00 a.m., Clement Usher, his nephew, visited the residence, as he usually does every Saturday, where he found Price dead. Signs of forced entry were seen on both a wooden and a metal door on the second floor entrance of the house.

The responding officers and personnel processed the scene, canvassed the area, and the body was transported to the morgue at around 11 p.m. on Saturday, April 15 and a post-mortem was conducted this morning. Amandala made several attempts to speak to the family over the weekend and today, but we were unable to get any comment.

Samuel Price’s home has been invaded by unknown persons before. The most recent case was in June 2009 when an unknown assailant entered his home while he was watching TV, tied him up and robbed him at knife point. The assailant ransacked his house and left, and after he was able to free himself, Price discovered that his point thirty-eight Colt brand revolver containing five live rounds was stolen, along with one hundred dollars from his wallet.

Price has also killed an invader in the past. About two decades ago, Price shot a would-be burglar by the name of Allison O’Brien. O’Brien attempted to enter the home and an alert Price took out his handgun and shot him. Police investigations later determined that the killing was justifiable since it was done in self-defense.

We understand that there have been several other times burglars have broken into his home.

Price was a father of three children; a brother to 7 sisters and, as we said, the brother of George Cadle Price. He was also a grandfather and a great-grandfather.

In his later years, he lived alone and was frequently visited by his family on the weekends. He also kept in his possession licensed weapons for his protection.
