ORANGE WALK TOWN, Sat. Aug. 24, 2024

The San Estevan Soccer Team salvaged a 1-1 draw with Progresso FC when the National Under-17 Youth Club championship tournament, organized by the Football Federation of Belize, continued in its 3rd and final week of regular competition at the Louisiana Government School field on Saturday afternoon, August 24.

Jareth “Booh” Tablada’s cross to center found Mark Bainton’s forehead (33’) for the flick into the right corner of the net, and there was little San Estevan’s goalkeeper Orlando Cocom could do about it; Progresso led 1-0 up to the half. Similarly with Progresso goalkeeper Erick Rodriguez when San Estevan’s Hammid Pren (78’) rocketed the equalizer into the net; 1-1 final.

Elsewhere in the league, in Group A, No Mercy FC got the easy bye to a 3-0 win when the United Force FC were a no-show for their scheduled match at the Norman Broaster Stadium.

Undefeated Roaring Creek United leads Group B, as Tajuan Thompson’s 66’ strike secured their 3rd win, 1-0, over Armenia FC at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium.

Elsewhere in Group B, Tribal FC enjoyed: a 3-1 win over Belize El Shadai Academy at the Victor Sanchez Stadium, with goals by Derick Chub (10’), Denroy Choco (15’) and Lorenzo Caal (41’).

Semifinals Leg 1 games are this weekend:

Saturday, August 31
10:00 a.m. – Roaring Creek United FC (Belmopan) vs Progresso FC (Orange Walk) – Isidoro Beaton Stadium
2:00 p.m. – Tribal FC (Toledo) vs San Estevan Soccer Team (Orange Walk) – Victor Sanchez Union Field
