BELIZE CITY, Mon. Jan. 10, 2022– On Friday night, around 7:30, a man identified as Andrew Staine, 35, was shot while driving near North Creek. According to police, Staine heard several shots while passing an area and shortly after, he realized he had been injured. He reportedly drove himself to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) in his grey Toyota Camry and was subsequently admitted. He is currently in a stable condition.

So far, police have not charged anyone in connection with the shooting. Since Friday night, several persons were detained, however. One of the detained suspects, Daniel Lopez, 24, was gunned down on Fabers Road shortly after being released from police custody. Lopez is not believed to have been the shooter in the Friday night incident.

Staine remains in a stable condition, with a single gunshot wound in his left calf.
