Sir,
Seven years ago I visited the Social Security office in Belize City at their new administration building. I needed to use the rest room, but the response I received was disappointing. I was told that there is no restroom for the public: they only have for staff.
Subsequently, I had occasion to visit the Belmopan Social Security Board head office and the result was the same. I then wrote the head of the administration to register my concern for the need for public restrooms at their offices. Their response was that they would look into it.
Regrettably, now seven years later, I visited the Social Security office in Belize City on Monday, August 2, 2010, with a friend who is visiting Belize and needed the use of a restroom. He was turned down because there was no restroom for the public.
I call upon the Government of Belize and the administration of Social Security to address this matter promptly, because this is an embarrassment. After all, this is the people’s house and the people’s money. The people should be treated with respect and justice.
Yours truly,
