GeneralTaiwan celebrates its 108th Anniversary

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Oct. 7, 2019– On Friday night, the Republic of China (Taiwan) celebrated its 108th Anniversary in the Kings Room at the Ramada Princess Hotel. The event was attended by the Governor Genera Sir Colville Young, members of Cabinet, the diplomatic and consular corps, members of the media and the Taiwanese community, among other invited guests.

The Taiwanese Ambassador, His Excellency Remus Li-Kuo Chen, addressed the gathering of Taiwan’s friends, as well as Prime Minister Dean Barrow. Both men toasted both countries’ 30 years of friendship and diplomatic ties, especially in light of the fact that both Taiwan and Belize face similar problems — Taiwan, from China, and Belize, from Guatemala.

A more complete report will appear in our issue of Friday, October 11, 2019.
