On Sunday morning, Tarique Flowers won “King of the Mountain” when the Weekend Warriors held its annual King of the Mountain Race, which started at the COURTS store in Belmopan to Middlesex Village on the Hummingbird Highway, and ended at the finish line at “The Gap”, at Mile 27, on Sunday morning, July 21.
A Category – 1st: Tarique Flowers (Team Running Rebels, 1:49:54, trophy); 2nd: Steven Jorgensen (trophy); 3rd: Gabriel Cardozo (Team Santino’s, trophy); 4th: Benito Balam (Team Santino’s, medal); 5th: Preston “Motto” Martinez (M&M Engineering, medal).
B Category – 1st: Kenny Gladden (Team DigiCell, trophy); 2nd: Dwayne Wade (BZ-Boyz, trophy); 3rd: Roque Matus (M&M Engineering, trophy); 4th Daniel Cano (Team Santino’s, medal); 5th Gilberto “Beto” Acosta (Stingers, medal); 6th: Andrew Burgess; 7th: Kenneth Butler.
C Category – 1st: Juan “Chak” Medina (Team Santino’s, trophy); 2nd: Colonel George Lovell (Lovell Cycling Team, trophy); 3rd: Santino “Chief” Castillo (Team Santino’s, trophy); 4th: Isaiah Willacey (Team Santino’s).
The 1st place winners of each category also received a polka dot jersey.
Females – 1st: Kaya Cattouse (Team LA Sweat, 22nd overall).

The Weekend Warriors race again on Saturday morning, July 27, from Old Belize to the junction of the John Smith Bypass and the Philip Goldson Highway, then returning to the 8 Miles roundabout on the George Price Highway, turning west to Hattieville, and returning to finish at Old Belize.
