BELMOPAN, Thurs. May 9, 2019– Thomas Requeña, 50, a laborer of Belmopan, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and threat of death, and is detained pending arraignment at the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court.

Police said that at about 8:30 Sunday night, at a house on Sarstoon Street in Belmopan, Katherine Anthony, 38, was attacked and stabbed in her chest by her common-law husband, Thomas Requeña, during a misunderstanding with her.

After stabbing Anthony, Requeña fled the scene and went into hiding.

 Anthony was rushed to the Western Regional Hospital, where she was admitted in a serious but stable condition.

ACP Joseph Myvette said that Requeña was found in his hideout in Belmopan yesterday. The nature of the misunderstanding between Requeña and Anthony was not disclosed.
