FeaturesThree-vehicle collision in Benque

Three vehicles collided on the George Price Highway at about Mile 71 near San Jose Succotz at about 6:00 yesterday evening. One of three drivers was hurt and is being treated at the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan.

Superintendent Dinsdale Thompson, Commander of Benque Viejo police, said that three vehicles – a Toyota pickup, a Toyota Corolla car traveling towards Benque Viejo Town from San Ignacio and a Nissan pickup travelling from Benque to San Ignacio. Behind the Toyota pickup was the Toyota car, driven at the time by Rodolfo Botero.

When the car overtook the pickup, it hit the pickup, causing the driver to lose control and collide with the Nissan pickup that was oncoming.

As a result, five persons were suffered minor injuries, and they were all treated and released from the San Ignacio Community Hospital.

Police are investigating, but don’t know yet if the influence of alcohol may have been a factor in the collision.
