Unidentified man found murdered near Mount Pleasant

GeneralUnidentified man found murdered near Mount Pleasant
Belmopan police who responded to a call about an unknown male who had been a victim of gun violence, found a man lying face up, bare-chested and both hands on his chest, with blood coming from the head and two visible bullet wounds, one in the right neck and the other under the right side of the chin. The deceased is still unknown to police. There had been no reports of a missing man.

Last night around 10:25 police learned that a resident of the area had made the discovery in a bushy area near Mount Pleasant, which is between Miles 45 and 46 on the Western Highway, not far from Belmopan. The area was about 100 feet in from the roadside. The area, mostly bush, is not near to any residence.

The unknown man is of Hispanic decent. He has short straight black hair, and was dressed in dark blue jeans pants and white tennis shoes. There were two T-shirts close to his feet, one white, the other black. A puddle of blood had accumulated around the head.

The identifiable markings on the corpse were in the form of various tattoos which were visible all over. On the left hand was a starfish and words, which seemed to say, “May love is you.”

Between the wrist and elbow on the outer left arm was a green ink tattoo with a cross and graffiti designs on it, three dots and a symbol. It also had the words, “Perdon Madre Por.”

On the chest was a huge tattoo in pale green ink resembling an animal’s face, and on the left top of it was the name “Mayra.” The other side of the tattoo said “Love,” in black ink. The lower stomach had a skull with an arrow through it in green ink and the name “MAIRA” on the bottom.

The deceased is not believed to have been dead for an extended period of time. Sergeant Ismael Westby of the Belmopan Crimes Investigation Branch said that there were no expended shells at the crime scene.

Westby also told us that at this point no one has been detained. The police have no suspects.
