TOLEDO DISTRICT, Fri. Mar. 24, 2023

A man, who has yet to be identified and has thus been labeled as John Doe, lost his life in a road accident on Thursday, March 23 in the Toledo District.

According to initial police reports, shortly before 5:00 a.m., 54-year-old Ramon Arteaga was driving a 1996 Blue Bird bus from Bella Vista Village towards San Isidro Village, when, somewhere between Miles 44 and 45 on the Southern Highway, a man ran across the road and was hit by the bus.

The impact of the collision caused the man’s body to be flung approximately 200 feet away onto the left side of the highway, which caused severe head and body injuries that resulted in his death at the scene. He was pronounced dead when he was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital.

Police are investigating.
