The Wesley College girls will challenge the undefeated Gwen Lizarraga High School girls in the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) basketball championship finals on Saturday, December 7, after scoring their 5th win, 19-12, over the Edward P. Yorke High School girls in the semifinals at the Swift Hall in Belize City on Tuesday evening, December 3.

Cedella Lanza led Wesley with 13 pts, Kailee Godfrey put up 4 pts, and Jeannie Staine threw in a bucket. Jeniyah Welch led E.P. Yorke with 7 pts, Bryannah Young shot 4 pts, and Jammika Benjamin chipped in a free throw.

In the semifinals on Monday, Gwen Liz’s most valuable player Primielee Hope and Lakeisha Requeña had dominated the No.4 seed Pallotti.

The E.P. Yorke girls entered the playoffs with 3 wins, 2 losses, and they will take on the Pallotti Gators in the consolation match for 3rd place on Saturday morning. The Gators had 2 wins, 3 losses entering the playoffs. The Gwen Liz girls had edged Wesley, 11-9, in the 4th game of regular season, and the E.P. Yorke also scored their 3rd win against Pallotti in the final game of the regular season last Thursday.
