BELIZE CITY, Sun. Jan. 17, 2021– Diandre Adolphus, 23, a Belizean construction worker of a West Canal address in Belize City, has been charged for attempted murder, dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm in connection with the Sunday, December 20, 2020 shooting of twenty-eight-year-old Karen Pinto.
Pinto and a family member were on Antelope Street Extension when they were approached by two gunmen who fired several shots in their direction. Pinto was shot in the leg, then the men escaped. Investigators do not believe that she was the target of the shooters, but that they had aimed to shoot the person who was with her.
In an interview a day after the shooting, Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, Head of the Police Department’s Crimes Investigation Branch in Belize City, said that investigators were looking for two known suspects. “We suspect that the target was the other person who was along with her and likewise we know of two persons who we are looking for at this moment,” he had said.
Nothing has so far been shared by police about any investigation to locate Adolphus’ accomplice.
