Crime3 robberies in Ladyville and Corozal

Two establishments — Lisa’s Restaurant on 5th Avenue and Chang Li Bar and Game Room on 4th Avenue – were robbed in Corozal, and a man walking home on Dollar Bank Road in Hattieville was robbed in a separate incident.

In Corozal, two thieves got away with over $1,500 in cash and valuables from the two business places, and in Hattieville, over $225 in cash and valuables was taken from the man who was walking on the Dollar Bank Road.

At about 11:30 Friday night, two masked men barged into Chang Li Bar and Game Room on 4th Avenue, Corozal Town.

One of the bandits was armed with a sawed-off shotgun, which he pointed at the business owner, and the second bandit, armed with a machete, went to the cash drawer behind the counter and stole all of the money it contained, about $500. The thieves then ran out of the game room.

Police have not yet found the thieves.

Then, at about 7:30 Saturday night, Wilson Cadle, 18, of Dollar Bank Road, Hattieville, was held up by two masked men while walking home.

Cadle told police that one of the men had a gun, which he pointed at his abdomen, and the other thief searched his pockets and stole two cell phones, a black Samsung valued at $65 with calling number 607-4223, and a LG touch screen phone valued at $135. The thieves also stole $224 from out of Cadle’s pocket. They then ran away in the direction of the Western Highway.

Police have not yet found the thieves.

In another robbery incident, on Monday, a Chinese business, Lisa’s Restaurant on 5th Avenue in Corozal, was robbed by two masked men, one of whom was armed with a sawed-off shotgun, which he pointed at the business owner.

The thieves then demanded money.

Fearing for his life, the owner of the restaurant handed over $1,000, all the proceeds from the day’s sales.

After taking the money, however, the thief with the gun hit the restaurant owner with the gun butt in the side of the face, and the two thieves then ran out of the restaurant.

The owner reported that this is the fourth time his restaurant has been robbed in less than two years.
