Crime$40,000 car destroyed by fire

A Mercedez Benz car valued at $40,000 – the property of Rosaria Romero – Woman Police Constable of Libertad, Corozal District, was completely destroyed by a fire. Arson is not suspected.

In an interview with Amandala, the fire officials of Corozal said that they conducted a thorough investigation of the debris left by the fire, and are convinced that the fire was not deliberately set, but was caused by electrical malfunction.

WPC Romero told police that at about 3:30 Saturday morning, June 7, she was sleeping when she was awakened by the cries of her baby. Upon awakening, she saw a fire burning outside her house.

When she opened the door to see what was happening, she saw her 2006 car engulfed in flames.

She also noticed that the cable that runs electricity from the lamppost to her house was also burning. The alarm was raised, and the fire was extinguished by neighbors and the Corozal Fire Service, which also went to the scene.
