GWEN LIZ AND PALLOTTI FRIDAY EVENING SHOWDOWN FOR FEMALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

SportsGWEN LIZ AND PALLOTTI FRIDAY EVENING SHOWDOWN FOR FEMALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL
With both Gwen Liz and Palloti High school posting wins this past week in female high school basketball, this has ultimately set up a huge showdown at the City Center this evening between two of the league’s only undefeated teams.

Gwen Liz on Tuesday evening improved their record to a perfect 3-0 after they soundly defeated Nazarene High School (NHS) by the score of 46-9 behind MVP prospect Tifarah Swift 13 pts. NHS, who now stand at (1-1), was led by Margaret Flowers 5 pts.

Meanwhile, on Monday evening, Palloti High School (PHS) also improved their record to (3-0). Unlike GLH, though, they had a much harder time in disposing of Wesley (WES), winning by the slimmest of margins, 25-24. Victoria Zelaya led PHS with 13 pts, while freshman sensation Anna Pinto led WES with 10 pts.

In the other female game played on Monday, Edward P. Yorke (EPYH) defeated Anglican Cathedral College (ACC) by the score of 22-10. Temara Clarke led EPYH with 9 pts, while Rashean Pertua led ACC with 4 pts.

On Wednesday, Sadie Vernon Technical High School (SVTHS) moved into third place with a convincing win over St. Catherine Academy by the score of 33-11, behind Felicita Zelaya 17 pts; while for SCA it was once again freshman Annalisa Habet leading her team with 8 pts.

In games played this past week in male high school basketball, EPYH on Monday evening blew out ACC by the score of 67-33. EPYH’s Winston Pratt, who is having a monster season, followed up last week’s 31 pts performance against SVTHS, with a 33-point outburst against ACC on Monday evening, giving him a season average of 32 ppg and making him the early season pick to win this year’s Most Valuable Player Award. Meanwhile, for ACC, who obviously are in an early season slump, it was once again Stafford Young leading the way with 15 pts, followed by Glenford Chimilio 7 pts.

On Tuesday evening, GLHS welcomed the return of Bernard Blades to their lineup, and then promptly put a thumping on NHS, winning by the score of 65-49. Blades led GLHS attack with 25 pts, followed by Sherwin Garcia with 20 pts. NHS was led by Ryan Martinez 12 pts and Jason Duran 11 pts. And finally on Wednesday evening, SVTHS surprised SJC, defeating them by the score of 48-40 behind Tevin Abrahams 14 pts and Kyle Domingo 12 pts. SJC was led by Evan Brown 14 pts and Hughson Tillett 12 pts.
