Smart Football Summer Camp kicks off on Monday at ITVET

The Smart Football Summer Camp 2014 takes place from Monday, June 30, to Friday, July 11. Activities will be held daily from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the ITVET (old Technical) field. Head coordinator is Stanley “Jordan” Reneau, and camp instructors are Anthony “Willie Bo” Bernard, Vallan Symms and Ms. Shennell Gentle. Awards and certificates will be given at the end of camp.

According to Jordan, this is the 6th year the camp has been running, but it was originally the Stars Summer Camp, comprising then BPFL Best Coach – Anthony “Willie Bo” Bernard, Best Midfielder – Edon “Yellow Man” Rowley, Best Defender – Vallan Symms, and Best Goalkeeper – Stanley “Jordan” Reneau. Since that time, Rowley has branched off on his own, after spending some years in San Pedro, and female football star Shenell Gentle has joined the group. About 3 years ago, SMART came on board assisting with fifty per cent of the sponsorship for the camp, and since last year, they are the sole sponsors.

Through the partnership with Smart, as was done last year, three promising players will attend the F.C. Barcelona Soccer Camp in Miami, Florida, this year from July 28 to August 1. They include the Best Camper from Smart Football Summer Camp 2013 – Jovaun Ramos, along with two players from the Smart 13 & Under Mundialito, Dion Cacho of Brown Bombers and Shemar Waight of Hattieville United. This year’s Best Camper will attend next year’s F.C. Barcelona Camp.

Registration at this year’s Smart Football Summer Camp will remain open during the day next week, said Jordan, so any interested boy or girl simply has to show up at the ITVET and they can participate in the camp.
