UDP un-creativity rears its boring head again

PoliticsUDP un-creativity rears its boring head again
Now you see why I tell you that you can’t trust the UDP in this traffic. I ask the question: you have a precious cargo to send on a boat across the ocean, and you know there will be stormy seas…Do you want an honest captain who is an iffy sailor, or do you choose a crooked captain who has been through rough weather? It is a difficult question, but I think the first thing you want to be sure of is that your cargo will cross the waves. Your difficulty then is to make sure that tricky so-and-so doesn’t arrive in port with the seals on your “chis” broken.

On second thoughts, you don’t want any of them bogaz. How they say, damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Ai, if only for a trustworthy captain…who can sail…we would have done so much more with that fat gift from our friendly neighbor in South America.

Check, hurrah for UDP honesty with the distribution of these good Venezuela millions. Now, how did they arrive at a cut off point of 20 thousand dollars per annum? It’s a fair argument that after the “distribution” some large families taking in 20 thousand per year earn less per unit than some small families making less than 10 thousand dollars per year. Braa, how did this brilliant Cabinet fail to factor in that families earning 20 thousand per year can participate in the nation’s banking system? People who have little cash flowing through their hands have to turn to loan sharks when they are in need. The more cash flows through your hands, the cheaper and more available money gets.

Families earning $20,000 per year need lessons about money management, and wealth creation. Families who can’t participate in the money system because they don’t have any cash flow, need handouts.

The UDP Cabinet should have paid the VIP a quarter of a million dollars to manage these funds. There are many ways this cat could have been skinned which would have been better in the short and long run than going straight handouts.

On first take, the UDP should have taken the “credibility” of having $20 million cash in hand and turned it into $40 million with a low interest loan. Half of the funds derived ($20 million) should have “bos off” to families that don’t have any cash flow; and half ($20million) should have “bos off” to families earning less than $20,000 per year…at low interest rates from the credit unions, or whatever vehicle the GoB decided to use or create. With 20 million bucks in the banks, GoB could easily have handled payments on the first 20, and met borrowers of the second 20 with half or three-quarters of the interest payments.
Hey, I am no money expert. Better could have been done. They should have set up a think tank with old money experts about Belize to get some ideas. Me? I would have contracted the VIP to captain this $20,000,000 across the ocean.

PUP can’t be serious

I marvel at the PUP face to be out there campaigning for control of the reins for the cities and towns. I think when you have done bad, you have to give it time. Yes, put on sackcloth and show the world you are serious about contrition. Any Catholic priest could explain to the PUP how it is done. 40,000 Hail Marys, 20 million Our Fathers…and don’t speak until you are spoken to. Damn, it’s like these people don’t have no shame at all. What’s the difference between an old PUP wolf and a new one? Men in blue are all out for mischief. Keep them around for entertainment, but don’t let them near any place where our money is at!

Hn, we are still trying to pay back for the last date with you, Mr. and Ms. PUP. We sent you to restaurant with budget to buy fry rice and orange juice. Those conscienceless bogaz splurged on cuisine and white wine.

It’s society

I enjoyed the article by John Tierney, Anti-love drug may be ticket to bliss, appearing in Amandala 2301, (excerpted from the New York Times) about some potion “fabricated” by a scientist named Larry Young (who must have nothing to do), which he used to infect prairie voles. Dr. Young artificially infused female prairie voles with oxytocin (a hormone)…and they quickly became attached to the nearest male. He found that a related hormone, vasopressin, creates urges for bonding and nesting when injected in male voles…After Dr. Young found that male voles with a genetically limited vasopressin response were less likely to find mates, Swedish researchers reported that men with a similar genetic tendency were less likely to get married.

I don’t condemn the research but I must point out to those for whom science is God that most of what we do in this world is our response to society and its demands. I have heard some statisticians say that North Americans are not fertile, that because they do not produce many children anymore. In truth, a population not producing many children has nothing to do with their fertility. Largely it is a response to that society’s design. They should find a new term to describe their observations.

As for people getting married, it doesn’t have all that much to do with their beinggenetically monogamous. Marriage is by way of fulfilling our obligation to society. Western civilization is founded on marriage to one spouse. Those who don’t choose celibacy are obligated to try it.
