GEORGE PRICE HIGHWAY, Belize City, Thurs. Sep. 3, 2020– Three non-fatal collisions occurred yesterday. One incident involved an SUV that ran off the road in Ladyville. The second incident occurred when a vehicle overturned near the Lords Ridge Cemetery in the Corozal District. And in the third incident, two vehicles collided on the Patchakan Road in the Corozal District.

Collision on Patchakan Road

The first incident occurred at about 8:00 p.m. yesterday evening in Ladyville on the Philip Goldson Highway. An SUV that was traveling from Sandhill toward Belize City ran off the road and crashed into the bushes at the junction of Lords Bank Road and the Philip Goldson Highway.

Also, yesterday, at about 8:20 p.m., a pickup being driven by a policeman was traveling to Belize City from Hattieville when the policeman lost control of the vehicle and it overturned near the Lords Ridge Cemetery.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams said that the policeman was not injured and he was alone in the vehicle at the time.

Then, at about 10:00 p.m., a container truck and a pickup collided on the Patchakan road. The pickup was damaged extensively. Details of this crash are not yet known.  Many believe that speed was involved due to the rush to prepare for the oncoming Hurricane Nana.

Commissioner Chester Williams said that no one was arrested for violation of curfew due to the urgency surrounding the arrival of the hurricane.
