The well attended events were the 24thInternational Reggae and World Music Awards, hosted at the Columbia University, Alfred Lerner Hall, 115thStreet and Broadway, and the other, hosted at the Pre Mother?s Day dance at the Queens Museum of Art. The first award that Rhaburn received was a trophy presented to him while at the 24thInternational Reggae and World Music Awards, when he was recognized and inducted into the International Reggae and World Music Hall of Fame. The IRWMA is considered to be the world?s premier awards event for reggae and world beat music, according to its producers, who include the president of Martin?s Culture, Ephraim Martin. Lord Rhaburn and entertainer Keeling Beckford were the only two artists who were inducted in the IRWMA of fame for this year. The Lord said that he was inspired from listening to other well-known Caribbean artists: Sparrow, Lord Melody and Kitchener. According to Lord Rhaburn, artists who also performed were Sister Carol, Luciano, Tanya Stephens, Dean Fraser?s All Star Band, Half Pint and Mutabaruka. Ziggy Marley, Sean Paul, Wyclef Jean, Tanya Stevens and Kanye West were among the nominees of the IRWMA. The other award that he received was a plaque that was given to him at the second event, held at the Queen Museum of Art. According to Lord Rhaburn, he was surprised that he won the two awards, because he was not aware that he was so well-known internationally. Lord Rhaburn added that he looks forward to the second annual Lord Rhaburn Awards Show, slated for Wednesday, December 7.
