How smart do you have to be?

LettersHow smart do you have to be?

Dear Editor,

The Government of Belize always seems to be looking through the wrong end of the telescope, unable (unwilling ?) to see the “Big Picture.”

Most recently, I read with dismay the continuing, contentious issues surrounding bus services, for which a large portion of the populace depend upon to get to work; to get their children to school; for shopping and a myriad number of other errands.

A government that cares about the welfare of its citizens and realizes what an asset well-run bus services are to the people, would be a lot less obtuse in their dealings with the Belize Bus Association.

Among other things, I find it unbelievable that bus owners have to pay duty and tax on parts and equipment! Not exactly an example of the “investor friendly” climate the government likes to crow about when justifying its “back-room” deals.

Time for some climate change.

Thanks,
