BELIZE CITY, Mon. Nov. 7, 2022
Today, the Government of Belize announced that the People’s Constitutional Commission (PCC) will be officially launched on Monday, November 14 — in exactly one week. The legislation enacting the PPC was officially passed a few weeks ago, despite some objections from the community, due to the apparent exclusion of some groups, including the National Kriol Council.
Cesar Ross, Director of the Good Governance Unit, which serves as the secretariat of the People’s Constitutional Commission, has confirmed, however, that a representative from the council will be given a seat on the commission.
The launch of the commission will take place at the steps of the National Assembly Building in Belmopan, starting at 2:00 p.m., the release from the Government Press Office states.
